From 2008 to 2013 he worked as a policy consultant at, Senate Republican Caucus where he served as a consultant on the Senate Environmental Quality Committee. And Analyzed bills and negotiated amendments related to water and energy.
From 2015 to 2020 he also worked as a Chief of staff and senior policy advisor, in state Sen. John Moorlach’s office, where he focused on matters relating to policy, fiscal and legislative issues for the Orange County Republican; Supervised all personnel issues in the Capitol and district office, and Oversaw communications strategy and media relations in the state.
Lance ray Christensen worked for over 15 years in general as chief of staff and the legislative director in the California state Senate before he left the job.
In 2021 he became the present Chief operations officer and vice president of education policy and government relations, at California Policy Center. In this position, he oversaw the public policy for conservative think tanks based in Orange County.
During the pandemic, he led the movement of schools reopening, And he was an advocate for charter schools located at the state capitol and a provider of resources for public employees seeking to leave their unions.
Lance ray Christensen was a member of the Non-Partisan party.
On the 8th of November 2022, Lance ran for election for the seat of California Superintendent of Public Instruction and finished second losing to his opponent Tony Thurmond. He had 1,733,547 votes while Tony gathered a massive 2,889,944, winning Lance with a ratio of 62.5% to 37.5% in the general election.
